July Newsletter

Summer in Palm Springs

July 18, 2024

Dear Community Members,

Welcome to the latest edition of our Palm Springs Parks and Recreation Master Plan newsletter! We have much to share with you as we continue our journey to enhance the parks and recreational spaces that make our community special.

What We've Been Up To

Since our last newsletter, we have had the pleasure of engaging with many of you through various community activities. The design workshop on June 26th at the Demuth Community Center was a remarkable success. Community members came together to collaborate on the design of future parks. Their creativity and enthusiasm will help shape conceptual designs that reflect the unique spirit of Palm Springs.

Our mobile engagements have taken us to diverse locations across the city, where we've had meaningful interactions with residents. On June 7th, the final day of school at Katherine Finchy Elementary School was filled with excitement. We connected with families during student pick-up, gathering their hopes and ideas for our park system.

On July 3rd, we were at Victoria Park for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new Measure J playground. It was heartwarming to see the joy on the children's faces as they explored their new play space, and we were thrilled to hear the community's positive feedback.

On July 13th, we visited the Golden Sands Mobile Home Park. Engaging with residents there, we heard personal stories and gathered valuable insights about their needs and wishes for recreational spaces.

On July 16th, we were at the Demuth Community Center, where we joined the Filipino Basketball League. The energy was noticeable as players and spectators shared their ideas on enhancing our parks and making them more inclusive for everyone

Join Us for Community Engagement

We are excited to announce our next community engagement event. Join us at the Dive-in Movie event on Saturday, July 20th, at 7 p.m. at the Palm Springs Swim Center. This will be a wonderful opportunity to relax, have fun, and share your thoughts on how we can continue to improve our parks and recreation facilities.

Survey Results

We have received the survey results and are diligently analyzing the data to inform the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. Your feedback is invaluable, and we encourage continued participation in the survey to ensure our parks meet the diverse needs and desires of our community. Your participation and input are crucial as we shape the future of our city's parks and recreation offerings. Together, we can create spaces that truly reflect the needs and desires of our diverse community.

Warm regards,

The Palm Springs Parks & Recreation Master Plan Team
