June Newsletter

Design your Park!

June 10, 2024

Dear Community Members,

Welcome to the latest edition of our Palm Springs Parks and Recreation Master Plan newsletter! We have much to share with you as we continue our journey to enhance the parks and recreational spaces that make our community special.

What We've Been Up To

Over the past few months, we've enjoyed connecting with many of you at various community events. Phase 1 of our master plan began with an engaging workshop at the Pavilion on February 22nd, where we laid the groundwork for our efforts by gathering initial feedback and ideas. This was followed by vibrant engagements at the Black History Parade and Festival on February 24th, where we heard inspiring stories and gathered valuable feedback. The ONE-PS Picnic & Community Expo 2024 on March 23rd was another excellent opportunity to connect with you all.

On April 25th, we were at Desert Highland Park during a food distribution event where we engaged folks in line to receive assistance. Our journey continued on May 4th when we set up a table outside AJ Filipino Market, engaging with families and gathering insights. The Certified Farmers Market on May 18th was yet another fantastic venue for us to learn from local businesses and the community that enjoys these events.

Our latest outreach was during the school pick-up at Katherine Finchy Elementary. As families prepared for the summer break, we were grateful to hear from parents and students alike about their hopes for our park system.

Join Us for Community Engagement

Now, as we move into Phase 3, we are eager to focus on expanding and improving our park system. To kick off this exciting phase, we invite you to join us for an interactive design workshop at the Demuth Community Center on June 26th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This workshop will be a hands-on opportunity for you to share your vision and help shape the future look of our parks.

In addition to the workshop, we will have a survey to gather further input from you. Your insights are crucial, and by participating, you ensure that our parks reflect our community's diverse needs and desires.

Your participation and input are invaluable as we shape the future of our city's parks and recreation offerings. Together, we can create spaces that truly reflect the needs and desires of our diverse community.

Warm regards,

The Palm Springs Parks & Recreation Master Plan Team
